The blog is  written as a part of  Thinking Activity based on War Poetry and assigned by Megha Ma’am , Dept. of English , MK Bhavnagar University.  In this particular blog , I am going to discuss  what is war poetry , characteristics of war poetry and two or three movies  which were regarding the War poem. 


                                       

                                       


  • What is War Poetry?

      War poetry deals with the subject of war. We can easily understand that war poetry is about soldiers writing their thoughts , emotions and experience through war poetry.

                                              SHERSHAAH (2021)

Explanation of Shershaah Movie:


  

         'Shershaah' is a Bollywood movie based on the life of Captain Vikram Batra, A young man , dreams of becoming a soldier and falls in love with Dimple. The film also focuses on Batra's personal life, including his relationship with his family and his fiancée Dimple Cheema, played by Kiara Advani. Vikram Batra is an Indian Army officer who served in the Kargil War in 1999. 


          The movie portrays the journey of Vikram Batra from his childhood to his army training and his heroic role in the Kargil War. The life of Vikram Batra, starting from his early days in Palampur, Himachal Pradesh, to his induction into the Indian Army, his training, and ultimately his deployment in the Kargil War. This movie showcases the courage, valour, and sacrifice of the young captain as he leads his troops in the face of enemy fire, often putting his own life in danger to save his fellow soldiers. 



       The movie depicts his bravery, courage, and sacrifices that he made for his country. It also showcases the bond between Vikram Batra and his family, friends, and fellow soldiers.


           The shershaah  movie is a tribute to Captain Vikram Batra and his selfless service to the nation. After his training , he climbs the military ranks and contributes to India's victory in the kargil war. Vikram Batra ,who was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India's highest military honor, for his bravery during the 1999 Kargil War between India and Pakistan. Indian troops recaptured all the peaks from Pakistan on 26th July ,1999, bringing operation Vijay to an end. This day is celebrated as Kargil Vijay Diwas to commemorate all the soldiers who were part of the Kargil War. 


  The movie stars Sidharth Malhotra in the lead role of Vikram Batra, along with Kiara Advani, Shiv Panditt, and others. It is directed by Vishnuvardhan and produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions.

 

               Shershaah movie is dedicated to all the 527 Martyrs who sacrificed their lives to win our landback. 


                 Bhuj : the pride of India (2021)

Based on : The true events that took place during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971


Explanation of Bhuj : the Pride of India


                    "Bhuj: The Pride of India" is a Bollywood film, directed by Abhishek Dudhaiya and starring Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, and Nora Fatehi. The film is based on the true events that took place during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, specifically the Battle of Bhuj, which was fought in the town of Bhuj in the Indian state of Gujarat.

                      The film follows the story of Indian Air Force Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik (played by Ajay Devgn), who played a key role in organizing a team of 300 women from the local village to rebuild the Bhuj air base, which had been destroyed by the Pakistani Air Force in a surprise attack.
